Hi! I’m Lia: former nonprofit executive, forever highly-sensitive person, and current leadership development expert.

I write about the human experience of leadership: Both the external role, and the internal journey.

I’m here for the purpose-driven leaders putting their hearts on the line every day in the name of complex, human-centered work.

Leadership Material is for those who are successful by external metrics and still sometimes asks themselves, “Do I belong in my seat at the table?”

Insights, tools, and tips: I’ll write bi-weeklyish, sharing field notes from my work with clients and from my experience of being a human and leader. The goal will always be to make sure you know you’re not alone, and to put new, practical tools in your back pocket for when you feel like you are.

Bio:

I am a transformational coach, deft facilitator, clarity conjurer, relationship whisperer, and the mother of two small humans.

Despite consistently outperforming my goals and earning lots of accolades over my career, in the second of my highest-stakes role as an Executive Director, I hit a rough patch that changed forever how I lead and how I think about what’s possible for leaders and teams. I emerged from that rough patch a more evolved and grounded person and leader, convicted that a different kind of leadership is not just possible, but exponentially more impactful and sustainable.

My clients are incredible leaders with big, ambitious ideas, who find themselves in that same spot where I stood. They know that what got them here won’t get them where they want to go, but aren’t sure how to move forward. Together, I offer them what I myself needed — compassionate, strategic, visionary and sometimes provocative support that fundamentally changes not just their tactics but their very foundations. It’s pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

My practice is unapologetically about doing what’s best for humans, communities, and the planet. I aim to disrupt and eventually dismantle oppressive systems and ways of being by undoing conditioning and supporting my clients to do better by themselves and each other, every day.
